29 February: Weybridge Centre and Library colocation plans
From April, there will be a temporary relocation of Weybridge Library into the Weybridge Centre for the Community, while it undergoes a major refurbishment to create the Weybridge Hub, which is expected to open in Spring 2025. See Surrey County Council: Weybridge Hub for more information.
We are working with Surrey County Council to ensure a smooth transition, making sure the library and Centres services can share space and continue to offer valued services to the local community.
Timeline
- Thursday 28 March, 5pm - library short closure for relocation
- Monday 1 April - Bank holiday
- Week of 1 April - Weybridge Centre for the Community closed to all hirers and day centre users for library relocation
- Monday 8 April - Weybridge Centre for the Community reopens for day centre services on Mondays and Thursdays
- Tuesday 9 April - Library services open at the Weybridge Centre
To our hirers
The closure of the Centre from Tuesday 2 April to Sunday 7 April to allow the library to relocate will mean we are unable to hire you the Centre during that time. We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause and hope that this advanced notice allows you to inform your clients and make alternative arrangements if necessary.
Information for library users
The library will close at 5pm on Thursday 28 March, when there will be a short closure while we relocate to the Weybridge Centre for the Community, Churchfield Place, Weybridge KT13 8BZ, where we will open our doors on Tuesday 9 April. During this closure, your next closest libraries are Walton, Hersham and Addlestone.
The library offer available at the community centre will be smaller than the offering from the current library site, however users will still be able to access key services including books, Wi-Fi and computers. We plan to continue to welcome you to our regular rhymetime and storytimes, although capacity may be reduced. We hope to run other activities which we will announce once we are open.

January update: Weybridge Hub drop in
Surrey County Council has plans to develop Weybridge library into the ‘Weybridge Hub’. The building works will include comprehensive external refurbishment of the existing structure, expanding the ground floor and full internal refit of all interiors providing accommodation for a variety of services.
When this work begins in April 2024, a reduced library service will share space with the Weybridge Centre for the Community. The details of this are still being finalised and please be assured that plans were in progress for this well before the temporary closure of the Weybridge Centre for the Community in November due to service safety concerns.
You are invited to a hear more about the Weybridge Hub at a drop-in event on 25 January, hosted by Surrey County Council at Weybridge Library from 4pm – 7pm.
At the event, information will be available on all the improvements and collaboration taking place to create the new Hub and partnership work being undertaken to provide a library provision during the refurbishment works.
You will also be able to view approved plans for the library and input their ideas to the look and feel of the library and future event programming of the library space. Video content showing a 3D walkthrough of the plans for the improved library area will be shown.
The event is for everyone who wants to find out more about the plans for the new Weybridge Hub and the timetable for the refurbishment of the library due to open in Spring 2025.
No booking necessary. Just drop in to Weybridge Library, Church St, Weybridge KT13 8DE
