Your council tax instalments will be collected automatically. You can choose to pay on the 1st, 10th or 20th of the month (or the first working day after, if it's a weekend or bank holiday).
Before taking your first payment, we will send you a new council tax bill confirming the instalment dates and amounts. By law we cannot collect a Direct Debit less than 14 days from it being set up.
To pay your council tax by debit card, you will need to provide your council tax account number. Your 8 digit account number will begin with a "2" and can be found at the top of your bill.
You can call our 24 hour payment line and make your payment by debit card.

In 2018 new rules came into effect banning companies from charging any fees on card payments. This applies to local authorities and other government agencies such as HMRC. As we have to pay for the cost of credit cards, we will not accept credit cards for the payment of Council Tax and business rates.
